First draft

I believe we need a different system and different systems within the bigger picture.

The world is run on a repetitive cycle, one that has been holding on for dear life in order to retain the power of those who built this system we live from.

But this system is not reflective or aligned with today’s world of at least the last 40–50 years. It is founded on a scarcity mindset and yet the natural being, which is nature itself, functions on an abundance mindset.

The economic systems are run on scarcity not abundance. Our environment can rejuvenate itself but we have forced and pushed it to the point of incapacity as a result of our scarcity mindset.

As we continue to ‘figure out’ what to do to save our planet, we forget that what needs to be truly addressed is people: our habits, our behaviours, our lifestyles. Without approaching this fact and without the honesty and transparency needed, we will continue doing the same of the same.

I have been disheartened to hear how governments are pushing aside the application of environmental strings attached to save an economy that sucks dry the very natural resources that it depends on. For a moment I wondered what was the point of all our efforts and demands for change, how is it that we can’t get the very people who are chosen to protect us to really ‘get it’? But deep within me I have this unleashing optimism that we can really do what is necessary.

Change is in the actions that compound to create a different system.

Challenge what is, turn things upside down, be honest of the why. The solutions will start to reveal themselves through the unveiling of our questions. Explore what it means to do it differently.
